AMS has designed their shift knob to extend the length of the shifter to aid in shifting throw as well as keep the knob close to the driver's hands during road racing. The Delrin material provides excellent wear resistance as well as resistance to heat transfer. Basically, this means that the AMS shift knob will last you a long time and not burn a hole through your hand on hot summer days.
