The Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three layers of Stainless Steel. Cometic uses Stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and corrosion resistance. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a flouroelastomer rubber based material (Viton) designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Viton coating is heat resistant to 2500C or 4820F.
The center or shim layer of the gasket is comprised of an uncoated Stainless Steel layer, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum heads to aluminum blocks.
The composition of MLS will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion.

the only thing wrong with the cometic head gasket is the 2 rivets that have to be removed for correct fittment. I have had the head gasket in place for 2 months now with out any problems.

It was the correct headgasket i got from you, but the picture on this page is of an 4 cyl not a 6 cyl so this picture is not correct. Have used this cometic gasket before and have had no problems with them.

Before installing, I asked Cometic for clarification on surface prep. They sent some garbage about nanospheres, but nothing usable. When I installed it . . it leaked like a screen door. Also did not fit like it was built for the specific engine installed on. A very Poor fit. Epic Fail.
Of course you lovely people will never publish this. Do a web search on "Leaking Cometic, or Cometic Failure". And read the tea leaves for the future of Cometic.
