We designed the HorsepowerFreaks 135i/335i intercoolers to set the high bar in performance, reliability, ease of installation, durability and visual appeal. Our intercoolers are 87% larger than the factory intercooler and pick up a sizeable 10-30rwhp at just 11psi while showing even greater gains when other power adders are used. These are the largest aftermarket intercoolers on the market for the 135i and 335i that fit within the factory location. Our cores are 20.25 inches wide by 5.75 inches tall and 7 inches deep for a massive 815 total cubic inches. Our intercoolers are also one of the easiest to install (in less than one hour) as they utilize the factory mounting tabs, factory c-clip couplers and don't require any silicon couplers or extra hose clamps. Our intercoolers are the only ones that utilize the sway bar mounting tabs to create a structural reinforcement that holds the intercooler tightly in place and our intercoolers fit within the factory grill and do not interfere with the radiator airflow. Our HPF intercoolers drastically drop the intake air temps without adding any additional turbo lag over your stock intercooler. Lower intake temperatures result in greater power delivery and the harder you run your car, the larger the gains you're going to see with our intercoolers. Whether you're running your 135i/335i as a daily driver or have already turned it into an all out track car, this intercooler will get you the power you need.
Those that are using our intercooler to boost the performance of their factory piping 135, 335 or 535 should use our FMIC with c-clip couplers. These intercoolers simply clip in as shown in the video on the first page of this thread.
HPF FMIC Usage with HPF Stage 1 Turbo System
The HPF stage 1 turbo system to be released in May includes our "end user tunable" engine management system (to be announced), HPF plug-n-play harness, HPF exhaust system, drop in air filter and the HPF FMIC with c-clip couplers. This kit is designed to maximize the stock twins potential while still retaining the factory IC piping. If you already have the FMIC with c-clip couplers then you can purchase the remaining stage 1 kit components separately when the kit is released.
HPF FMIC Usage with HPF Stage 2 Turbo System
The HPF stage 2 turbo system release date is TBD and will include all of the HPF stage 1 components "plus" our HPF intake manifold, HPF exhaust manifold with T4 flange for single turbo, A 67 series turbo, an aftermarket BOV (TBD), our HPF fuel rail and injectors, fuel pump, and new IC piping for the hot and cold side along with 5-ply silicon couplers and T-bolt clamps. For those that purchased the FMIC already in the earlier stage with the c-clip inlet and outlet flanges, they can simply ship it back to us and we will weld on the correct stage 2 inlet and outlet "beaded" flanges for free. For those going directly to stage 2 at this time, we will supply the intercooler with the correct stage 2 inlet and outlet flanges.

Notes
Additional support mounting brackets will not bolt directly to the sway bar mounts in the XI models.

I installed the HPF FMIC into my Z4 s35i and the fit was perfect and the install so simple! The quality of this product is obvious right from opening the box. My stock intercooler would heatsoak within minutes. After installing the HPF FMIC I have not hit that heatsoak performance wall again, I am definitely feeling more power, and the whole engine just seems to breath much better. A great uprade even if you are not running any other mods.

This intercooler fits perfect and install was very easy. Lowered my intake temps and made more power than the stock unit. Great quality wish I had more money to buy all HPF products for my car.

Quality was noticable upon opening the box. It was wonderfully packaged and looked very well designed. The endtanks were obviously designed for maximum flow, which translates into optimal IAT's and worthwile gains. Gains are more noticable as rpm and speed increase due to its ability to retard heatsoak and flow efficiently even after repeated WOT(wide open throttle)runs. I would reccommend this product to anyone that is looking for BIG gains in horsepower and lower IAT's over the stock intercooler. Thanks HPF, great product! I look forward to your future work on the N54 platform. HPF sets the bar in terms or reliablity, longevity and of course HORSEPOWER!

Well we bught this for a friend of mine s 3.35 coupe and he had a piggyback unit which had 9 modified maps in it and he was not able to acces last 3 maps till he got the intercooler from hpf , with it he was able use all maps for his car which shows how big an improvement this ic is over the stock and it takes only 5-6 mins to install it :D
