MSD Ignition Coils


LS1 LS6 Blaster

Finally, you can get a performance replacement coil for the popular Gen III GM small block with these LS-1/LS-6 Blaster coils from MSD! This engine, most notably the LS-1 and LS-6, is fast becoming a favorite performance engine. But, not just in Camaros, the new GTO and Corvettes - also in muscle cars and street rods. The complex electronic controls of the original coils presented the aftermarket with a challenge as the drivers that control the firing of the coils are built into the OE models. MSD engineers were able to design an advanced circuit that will operate with the factory electronics of the Gen III engine controls while producing a higher output spark. Not only do you get a higher voltage spark, but the coil will deliver multiple sparks! That's right - multiple spark discharge coils! There are two types of housings for the MSD Coils. Chec k your application for the visual match.

Thanks to a different connector, not all Gen III engines will accept the MSC, PN 8245 Coil (Kit PN 82458). For those applications, we re introducing the MSC II Coils! These Coils have all of the same features of the PN 8245 Coil plus mount in the factory location and accept the factory connectors.


10 Plus

The MSD 10 PLUS uses MSD's Patented Stacker Ignition technology to combine the best characteristics of a Capactive Discharge Ignition with an Inductive Ignition. The result is a spark with incredible voltage and long duration and this Coil is designed exclusively to hande it all.

Cannot be used with the old style dual coil MSD 10.


Hemi Coil-On-Plug

Fire up your late model Hemi with a set of MSD s Blaster Coils. The Coils are a direct bolt-in and are spec d with superior materials and winding ratios to improve the output of the coil while retaining the factory fit.

Blaster If you are looking to upgrade your stock coil, or want to compliment the performance of your MSD Blaster Ignition, MSD 5, 6 or 7, the Blaster Coil line is the right choice. All of the Blaster Coils are designed for improved spark output!

Special 100:1 windings are used to provide maximum build-up of voltage! These windings are held secure and kept cool in an oil filled metal canister. The tower assembly is molded of durable alkyd material due to its high dielectric characteristics while wide spaced brass primary terminals prevent the possibility of spark.

There are several versions of the Blaster Coil available. All of them have the same internal specifications, but have different housings or components. Each Blaster Coil can be used with a stock ignition, Blaster Ignition, MSD 5, 6 or 7 Ignition Control. Most late model vehicles with electronic ignitions do not require a ballast resistor, check your ignition and manufacturers specifications to determine if a ballast is required in your application.


Blaster SS

The MSD line of Blaster Coils is known for great performance from the street to the circle tracks. Following in that performance line, the new Blaster SS Coil is ready to leave its mark.

The Blaster SS is an E-core style coil, which is a very efficient design when it comes to producing high voltage and spark energy. The windings produce 300mA and can handle up to 48,000 volts when used with an MSD 6 Series Ignition Control. The windings are held secure in a Dupont Rynite injection molded shell and are then encased in an epoxy compound for protection against vibration and water. The primary terminals are located at opposite ends of the tall spark tower so there is no chance of arcing especially with the high dielectric characteristics of the Rynite housing.

The Coil is compact enough to fit in tight areas and is supplied with vibrations mounts.


DIS Racing

For all-out race cars with multi-channel coil drivers this new Blaster Coil will provide the incredible voltage your vehicle needs. This coil will top off your MSD DIS-4 HO Ignition system with its low resistance and quick rise time. This combination can produce a spark with incredible voltage that's capable of burning the fuel mix in any cylinder! The Blaster DIS Racing Coil can be used on a variety of applications ranging from coil per cylinder systems to waste spark combinations. The windings are secured in the epoxy molded housing for vibration protection and high dielectric properties and is easy to mount.


GM

If your GM Coil has two connectors, usually one gray and one black, this is a direct replacement performance coil. This style coil was used on pretty much anything that came out of GM until 1996 (except DIS systems). MSD's Blaster GM Coil features a red housing that surrounds a set of Blaster 2 influenced windings for improved output. The Coil mounts in the same location as the stock coil and plugs right in.

Installation Tip: If you plan to install an MSD Ignition with your Blaster GM Coil, use a PN 8876 Harness for a direct plug-in installation.


HEI

Replace the stock internal coil of your HEI with an MSD. The coil features lower inductance and high temperature windings which allow the coil to charge faster delivering increased spark energy at higher rpm. The MSD Coil mounts in the stock HEI cap and installs in minutes. To receive the most from the coil, it is recommended to replace the module with MSD's powerful HEI Module, PN 8364.


HVC

The Blaster HVC Coil is right at home on the street or strip. The Coil is designed to produce maximum power with an MSD 6/7 Series Ignition Control. Special windings and material were chosen by MSD engineers to efficiently produce High Voltage and Current. Low primary resistance allows the coil to take in all of the MSD's energy and instantly step up the voltage combined with a high amount of current. This combination delivers a powerful spark to the plug for complete combustion in the cylinder.

The coil windings are encased in epoxy and held secure in a heavy duty aluminum housing. The tall secondary tower accepts an HEI style plug terminal and boot and heavy duty vibration mounts are supplied for a secure mount.


LS2 Multi Spark

They said it couldnt be done, but they havent met MSDs engineers! At last, a high-performance, multi-spark replacement coil for the remarkable GM Gen-III small block!

The complex electronic controls of the Gen-III engine management system presented MSD engineers a substantial challenge, as the control drivers are built into the OE coils. We were able to design an advanced circuit that will operate with the factory electronics of theGen-III engine controls while producing a higher output spark. Not only do you get a higher voltage spark, but the coil will deliver multiple sparks! Thats right - multiple spark discharge coils!

This version of the MSC is for GM s LS2 variant, and will provide significantly more spark than the stock components. These coils produce up to three times the spark energy of the stock coils plus they deliver multiple sparks to help keep the engine clean at an idle. This new kit provides everything you need to install the MSCs on your car, including eight coils and mounting hardware.

Mitsubishi 4 Tower

When it comes to late model performance parts, nothing beats bolt-on and direct connection components. Especially when they improve performance with a hotter spark like these new MSD Blaster Coils. These new bolt-in coils are designed with improved materials and windings to produce a stronger spark. This improved spark helps burn the fuel mixture more efficiently resulting in a smooth idle and improved mid range rpm power.


Pro Power

The Pro Power Coil is the best choice for short duration applications such as drag racing or tractor pulls. The special windings of the Pro Power Coil are designed to produce the most spark when used with an MSD 7, 8 or 10 Ignition Control. Not for use with any stock ignition or MSD 5 or 6 Series Ignitions. With only 0.03 ohms resistance the coil is capable of producing up to 55,000 volts! The housing is molded from Rynite material and is supplied with vibration mounts for a secure installation. A premium grade oil keeps the windings of the coil cool and brass terminals ensures that the full voltage reaches the windings.

To make finding a mount position simple, MSD has designed a coil mount engineered specifically to match the bolt pattern on the back of Chevrolet big block heads. Available separately.

MSD is pleased to offer these performance coils for the following applications. They look great in MSD red and will connect to the factory wiring.


TFI

Top off your Ford's Ignition system with this great new replacement coil. The Blaster TFI is MSD performance in factory Ford clothing! The windings and construction of this new coil are similar in performance to the line of MSD Blaster 2 Coils. The coil has an increased turns ratio plus there is lower primary resistance than the stock coil. This all amounts to a bolt-in replacement coil that produces more output voltage. The Blaster TFI will work with stock ignition systems as well as MSD equipped cars and trucks.

Installation Tip: If you plan to install an MSD Ignition with your Blaster TFI Coil, use a PN 8874 Harness for a direct plug-in installation.


Ford

The new Blaster CoPs are designed as a direct bolt-in replacement coil for many SOHC Modular Motors. The housing and installation are the same as the factory, but that s where the similarity ends. Inside the MSD red housing, engineers spec d better material to assemble the primary and secondary windings. There is also patented dual magnet technology to step up the output.Together, this combines a coil that produces higher voltage and spark energy! The Coil-on-Plug design of the Blaster CoPs puts the spark energy right out of the coil and across the plug gap to improve the combustion and output of the engine.

901/29/2006EclipseThis coil works for a 2000 Dodge Neon but wasn't listed as such. The part bolts on flawlessly and the connections are tight but easy to install. I recommend this to anyone who wants to start burning that extra fuel that blows out the exhaust. I also recommend the aem intake and msd wires.

1009/23/2005EclipseThis is a nice cheap performance bolt-on. Definitely can feel a difference over stock... I also have the 8.5mm MSD wires and NGK Iridium Spark plugs.
1009/18/2005After losing a piston to a faulty injector on the dyno my motor had massive blow-by I then proceeded to drive it home 50 Km's. The next day I rolled it out for a degrease and cleanup ready to pull the motor and as my driveway is uphill I thought I'd see if it would start! Even with 1 dead cylinder and the other 5 full of oil the Coils/Dis4 combination still fired and ran the car up into the workshop.
