Mishimoto is all about quality. I have had many other brands of silicone hoses as well, which were fine, but the silicone is a higher grade and designed better than the other brands. How do I know this?
20 years of school and working on a job that, "Stress-Tested" stuff as well as road racing bikes in the AMA Mid-Atlantic circuit. I hate bragging but the subtle difference in the MISHIMOTO details are really worth looking at. and one thing you learn is tires, tires and what they tell you. Silicone and rubber have some of the same quality, "Tail Tells". The MISHIMOTO hoses are slicker and more pliable because they have a higher level of lubricative silicates in them. This will lead to them being plyable for a longer period of time than other brands.
Race tires are kind of the same in that setting the air pressure too low will over work the tire and they will start to leach oil and you will wreck. This is because a higher grade of rubber is used that has more lubricative petroleum in them. These tires will stay plyable longer and grip better, thusly the analogy of the MISHIMOTO silicone used.
Also, the MISHIMOTO hoses are ribbed, this gives the hose more surface area and therefore better heat dissipation.
