Precision CNC Bent Tubing
321 stainless steel tubing is CNC mandrel bent and precisionly welded to perfection. This eliminates the need for a flex joint, which is a major weakness in other uppipes including the OEM one.
Flanges
Flanges are all CNC machined from 1/2", 304 stainless steel to prevent warping. Flanges are now counter on the backside for smoother transition from header to tube and uppipe to header. The center bores of the flanges are port matched for a smoother exhaust flow. Proper sized ports increase exhaust velocity and assure gaskets will not burn out.
Critical Correct Sizing
The PERRIN Uppipe inside diameter best matches the OEM exhaust manifold outlet and OEM turbo inlet. This is critical to maintaining exhaust gas velocity increasing turbo spool up. Typically we see 250-350 RPM quicker turbo spool up after installation. Choosing a tube bigger than this can cause the turbo to spool slower.
Protect Your Turbo
On any modified 2002-05 WRX's the OEM EGT sensor (located in the upipe) can break off and destroy the turbo! Using a PERRIN uppipe protects the turbo from damage by removing the sensor all together. This irrelevant sensor is only there to tell the ECU the catalytic converter is too hot. Since the PERRIN uppipe removes the cat on the 02-05 WRX, it no longer needs to use the sensor.
