The RB26DETT is a high revving engine, but can often fail due to the weakness of the oil lubrication system.
The stock oil pump cannot maintain adequate amount of oil or oil pressure the RB26 demands at extreme engine speeds. The stock pump gear is made of weak sintered metal and can often break at high power levels and engine speeds. When there is a lack of proper oil lubrication, the main bearings or rod bearings will not have adequate oil and will wear out abnormally. This can result in a catastrophic disaster that will instantly destroy your engine.
The Tomei oil pump gear is made of strengthened steel and is vastly bigger to allow proper flow and pressure. The Tomei pump has an external oil pressure adjuster as well.
