The EKS Brand-exclusive goggle is constructed of a lightweight "urethane blend" material. The "poly-flex" material enables the frame to conform much more easily to different face shapes. To enable use and function, the tear-off posts are integrated into the polycarbonate hard coat lenses.
The 100-PPI "reticulated" vent foam maximizes airflow while keeping out dust and debris, and the silicone-backed adjustable woven strap with double buckles provides the ultimate in strap placement and hold. In addition, the 17mm thick, four-layer face foam is backed by a moisture-wicking fleece lining for the best anti-drip and sweat protection available. Each box includes a smudge-resistant "antistatic" goggle bag.
Hook Taylor grew up skiing in the Reno and Lake Tahoe areas as a young boy. Bob Smith, the founder and owner of Smith Sport Optics at the time, was becoming increasingly interested in developing eyewear for the off-road motorcycle market. Hook contributed some goggle concepts and helped establish some motorcycle accounts, and the rest is history for Smith goggles. After a successful tenure at Smith, Hook relocated to a town outside of Sun Valley, Idaho, where he raises black labs and rides his dirt bike out his back door.
Since he was ten years old, Rich Taylor has been riding motorcycles. RT raced professionally for over 14 years, earning ten national championships and finishing in the top five on several occasions. He now tests for Team Suzuki and is responsible for all R & D testing for the company's new dirt bike models.
