Milt Reimer, the FXR owner, began working part-time at a Honda and Polaris dealership in the small town of Morris, Manitoba, roughly 50 kilometers south of Winnipeg, at the age of 17. It was there that he began his motocross career. The following six years were spent developing business concepts for a clothing company called FXR. Milt recognized a gap in the market for high-performance snow rider apparel and began designing products to be manufactured by a local garment manufacturer. The initial stages were conducted in the basement of his home, which later expanded into a huge business.

FXR continued to expand, and by 2005, the majority of the FXR line was manufactured overseas.
