Griptec? micromachining innovation is the only one of its type in the industry, and it's the most sophisticated designed surface for boosting pulley friction. The majority of our pulleys are fabricated in the United States using 7075-T6 aluminum sourced entirely from Kaiser and Alcoa/Arconic.

Micro machining is used in the GripTec? Micro process. Our micromachining skills are nearly endless, and we use them to provide the target component with the necessary friction coefficient for the cleanest and most powerful gripping force available. The multi-directional machined ridges and valleys provide further than maximal gripping force; they also serve as escape routes for trapped air and debris, assisting in the union of the target surface and belt.
GripTec? Weld is a micro-welding method that creates an engineered surface by infusing a mix of metals and possibly designed aggregate on a small scale. The welding technique is nearly endless, and they use it to provide the target part the necessary friction coefficient for the safest, most forceful gripping force conceivable and a more durable surface coat than the underlying material in some circumstances.
On supercharged components, belt slide is a common problem. In fact, some machines that produce 14-16 psi might require up to 200 horsepower to run. Slippage difficulties frequently afflict the drive systems, leading to the adoption of noisy cog systems, in which belts have shorter life spans, are difficult to come by, and can generate greater heat due to the frictional action of the gears.
Belt slipping isn't always obvious. When the system screeches, squeaks, or boost goes off, it's usually a sign of belt slip. Did you know that on NA cars, the belt might slide a tiny fraction of the time, which is a key role in belt wear?
Belt wrap is important for limiting belt movement, but it's difficult to remove with simply surface contact while operating a supercharger completely. When aligning dimensions for size pulleys on systems with 3.4 upper pulleys, a 1.5 psi improvement can be seen. If you're not using GripTec?, you're slipping whether you're running 6 psi or 20+ psi.
