Walero temperature-regulating race wear is completely flame-retardant and scientifically designed to regulate body temperature, improve driver performance, and ensure maximum comfort. Originally developed for NASA, Outlast technology employs phase change materials (PCM). A phase change material (PCM) is a substance with a high heat of fusion that can store and release large amounts of energy by melting and solidifying at a specific temperature, therefore maintaining the desired temperature for a longer period of time. PCMs are classified as latent heat storage (LHS) units because heat is absorbed or released during the solid-to-liquid and liquid-to-solid transitions. Micro-encapsulated Outlast phase change materials are permanently encased and shielded by a polymer shell. Micro-encapsulated phase change materials are known as ThermoculesTM. This encapsulation method renders the ThermoculesTM extraordinarily durable. Incorporated into their fibers and fabrics, these ThermoculesTM have the capacity to absorb, store, and release excess heat. This allows the Walero base layers to continuously regulate the microclimate of the skin. As the skin warms, it absorbs heat, and as it cools, it releases that heat. Outlast technology is not a wicking technology, which manages moisture by reacting to perspiration and removing it from the skin. The Outlast technology will proactively manage heat while preventing the formation of moisture.
Walero product materials also include Protal, a permanent flame retardant (FR) fiber. Unlike non-permanently FR-treated materials, theirs never lose their protective qualities.
